						<title>Quality of Life(Qol) and Some Factors Related in Males with Heart Failure in Karaj and Shahriar Social Security Hospitals‌(2010)</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Background and Objective&lt;/strong&gt; : Several study show that health related quality of life in heart failure patients is significantly impacted by disease. The aim of the present study was to determine quality of life and some related factors in males with heart failure. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Material and Methods &lt;/strong&gt;: This is a descriptive-­analytical study conducted on 100 males with systolic heart failure in Karaj and Shahriar social security hospitals of Alborz province in 2010. Data was collected through convenience sampling and interview.­The instruments were demographic data sheet and MLHFQ (Minnesota Living with Heart Failure) Questionnaire. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation) and independent T- test, Anova and Pearson correlation coefficient(p&lt;0.05). &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results: &lt;/strong&gt;The findings indicat that the mean score of quality of life is­ 41.61 ± 21.30 51% of males quality of life is poor, 26% moderate and 23% good. There is significant positive correlation between quality of life and age (p&lt;0.001), and negative correlation between Qol and ejection fraction (p=0.006) and hemoglobin level (p&lt;0.001). Statistical significant difference is found between quality of life and education level (p=0.001), economic status (p=0.010), cigarette smoking (p=0.031), asthma (p=0.022), use of digoxin (p=0.040), angiotensin receptor blocker (p=0.035) and Spironolactone (p=0.002). &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Conclusion: &lt;/strong&gt;This study indicates that males with systolic heart failure have poor quality of life. The nurse can help to improve quality of life by performing appropriate intervention teaching patients about self-care intervention and monitoring side effects of treatment. &lt;/p&gt;</description>

						<title>The attitude of Motorcycle Drivers about Helmet Use Based on Health Belief Model (HBM) in Khomein City, 2010</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective: &lt;/strong&gt;Understanding and improving traffic behaviors, especially, the use of helmet is known as a strategy for preventing from road accidents. prevention of road accidents are caused Azsdma The aim of ­the present study was to assess the barriers to helmet use, based on health belief model in Khomein city. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Material and Methods: &lt;/strong&gt;­ The subjects of this Cross-­sectional study were 384 drivers recruited via convenience sampling.­­The instrument was a research-made questionnaire based on HBM items.­The data related to performance, Perceived susceptibility, Perceived barriers, Perceived severity ­and Perceived benefits were analyzed by­ independent T-test,­Pearson, spearman correlation, chi square and wilcoxon (p≤0.05). &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results: &lt;/strong&gt;The barriers to helmet use are sweating, decreased hearing, expensiveness, heaviness, and visual limitation, ­chocking feeling, hairstyle, losing ­the helmet, shyness and time consuming, respectively. ­The rate of helmet use is 16.2%. ­According to the the subjects, ­education­(61.4%) paying fines (22.7%) and confining motorcycles (15.9%) are effective on wearing helmet. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Conclusion:­ &lt;/strong&gt;­ According to the results, we recommend performing proper educational programs about wearing helmet, based­ on HBM,­­ designing new helmet by considering fore mentioned problems and modifying police treatments toward education. &lt;/p&gt;</description>

						<title>People Attitude toward Elderly in Golestan Province , 2009</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective &lt;/strong&gt;: Socio-economical and scientific development has brought about rapid increase of elders and changed old traditions. Quality of life of elders with good wife’s, children's and friend’s support is higher than that of others. Hence, we aimed at determining people‘s attitude toward elders in Golestan province, 2009. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Materials and Methods :&lt;/strong&gt; This cross-sectional study was carried out via convenience sampling on 300 people, who resided in four cities of Golestan province and aged 13-60 years, having at least one elder around. Data was collected by kogan questionnaire and and analyzed by Kruskal-wallis and mann-whitney. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results &lt;/strong&gt;: The mean age of the subjects is 24.8. They are Fars (53%) and Turkmen (42%). There is significant relation between attitude toward elders and Variables such as age (P=0.003), ethnicity (P=0/000) and education (P=0/01. Men and women younger than 25 years and people with higher education have more negative attitude. Turkmens have higher positive attitude toward the aged. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Conclusion :&lt;/strong&gt; Since more negative attitude toward the aged are reported among teens and highly educated adults, we recommend officials for performing some essential interventions to improve this attitude . &lt;/p&gt;</description>

						<title>Gender Difference and Emotional Intelligence in Golestan University ‌of Medical Sciences’ Students</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective &lt;/strong&gt;: The relation between gender and emotional intelligence has been considered in different studies and it seems that females have higher emotional intelligence. ­We aimed to determine gender difference in emotional intelligence among students of Golestan University of medical sciences. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Materials and Methods: &lt;/strong&gt;This descriptive-analytical study was conducted, 2008, on 180­ students selected randomly.­ For data collection, we used a valid and reliable­(r= 0.75 to 0.85)­emotional intelligence questionnaire named Cyberia shrink. Descriptive statistics and independent t-test &lt;br&gt;(p ≤ 0.05) were used to analyze the data, using SPSS-­16 software. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results: &lt;/strong&gt;As the results show, There is significant difference­(P=0.03)­between Females’ emotional intelligence (104.2) and males’ (100.1). Female students have higher scores in their self control, self awareness and social awareness (P&lt;0.05). There is no the self motivation and social skills between males and females are not significantly different. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Conclusion: &lt;/strong&gt;­ There is no difference in all components of emotional intelligence between two genders, but we can say self control and social awareness can be influenced by gender .</description>

						<title>A Comparative Study of Quality of Life ( QOL) Among Patients with Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective: &lt;/strong&gt;Growing trend of chronic kidney disorders in the world represents the increased problem imposing on patients and their family, and ultimately reduce the quality of their life. ­Thus, dialysis patients are trying to ­increase their quality of lives, in addition to looking for proper treatment. ­ This study was conducted to­ compare the quality of life in hemodialysis patients ( HD) and peritoneal dialysis.­(PD)­ &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Materials and Methods: &lt;/strong&gt;­ This cross-sectional study was performed on 166 dialysis patients (130 HD and 36 PD patients ) in teaching hospitals of Urmia University of Medical Sciences. The instrument was standard SF-36 questionnaire including demographic part and 36 questions about quality of life. To analyze the data , we used descriptive statistic and independent T- test. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results: &lt;/strong&gt;Most of the participants (n=97) are female and most of HD (43.8%) and PD (50%) patients are in 26-45 and 15-25 age bracket, respectively. The mean of QOL score in HD patients in physical function, role function and mental health sections is more than the mean of PD (P&lt;0.05). &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Conclusion:­ &lt;/strong&gt;According to the results of the present study, QOL in HD is better than that PD. Hence, recognition of level of QOL in chronic renal failure, and research about promoting ways of QOL is necessary to step practically forward increasing QOL. &lt;/p&gt;</description>

						<title>Knowledge and Attitude of Students of the Azad University of Saveh about AIDS</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective &lt;/strong&gt;: Young people are the major group at risk of acquiring AIDS worldwide. It is one of the health problems in the world and in the developing countries in particular. We aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude of students of the Islamic Azad University, Saveh Branch, about HIV/AIDS. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Materials and methods :&lt;/strong&gt; This cross-sectional study was conducted on 666 students selected by cluster random sampling in 2009-2010. Instrument was a research-made questionnaire including three parts: demographic, knowledge and attitude toward AIDS. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square and Fisher’s Exact Test using SPSS -15. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results &lt;/strong&gt;:&lt;strong&gt; &lt;/strong&gt;Most of the subjects (48.9%) are in 20-25 age bracket and 54.4% are females. The knowledge of 14.9% is good and 68.8% moderate 63.1% of them have negative attitude. Most students (80.6%) indicate that they have been informed about AIDS via mass-media (TV, radio) and 54.4% have not had any contact with AIDS. There is significant relation between knowledge level and sex and information sources (P&lt;0.001) attitude level and sex, and also knowledge and attitude level (P&lt;0.001). &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Conclusion &lt;/strong&gt;: Overall, the majority have not adequate knowledge and positive attitude of basic HIV/AIDS. Since mass-media have the most effect on AIDS, paying attention to quantity and quality of programs and any other sources is an educational necessity. &lt;/p&gt;</description>

						<title>Comparative Study of Health Behaviors of First and Last Semester Students in Amirkabir and Tehran University and Their Relations with Demographic Variables, 2007</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective &lt;/strong&gt;: Health behaviors are undertaken to prevent from a disease or to maintain health. According to the effect of behavior patterns on the Health of community, we aimed to compare health behaviors of first and last semester students in Amirkabir and Tehran University and their relations with demographic factors. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Materials and Methods &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;: &lt;/strong&gt;In this descriptive -analytical study, 149 (99 first semester, 50 last) students of Tehran and Amirkabir university were recruited through stratified sampling in 2007. Data were collected by Health Behavior questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive statistics and independent t test (p≤0.05) using SPSS-16 software. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results: &lt;/strong&gt;There is no significant relation between first semester’s physical exercises (p=0.6) and smoke cessation (p=0.07) ­and ­ those of last semester’s ,but it is significant for proper nutrition pattern( p= 0.03)­.­Health behaviors of first semester’s is better than that of last semester’s. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Conclusion: &lt;/strong&gt;This survey shows that students have not good health behaviors therefore,­ we recommend designing and performing some educational programs for promoting proper health behaviors for freshmen and other students. &lt;/p&gt;</description>

						<title>Evaluation of Azad University of Gorgan Based on Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) Approach in Academic Year of 2006-2007</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;: &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Evaluation is considered as an integral component of academic planning system and the process of determining and providing necessary information about desirability of development program targets. The aim of present study was comprehensive evaluation of Islamic Azad University of Gorgan based on CIPP Model to provide useful information to help people to judge and improve the curriculum and develop the policy of programs . &lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Materials and Methods: &lt;/strong&gt;The type of this study is educational evaluation. First, for conducting the evaluation, four domains of CIPP model including context, input, process and product was divided into more detailed parts, then primary standards were developed based on viewpoints of deans, head of department and faculty members of the university. After that, based on primary standards, measurement tools were created and administrated. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results: &lt;/strong&gt;The results showed that the average score of context, input, process and product from the perspective of faculty members, students, head of department, university administrators, professionals and graduates, is 2.55, 2.714, 3.208 and 2.91, respectively, which indicates the relative desirability of the university in these four factors. The total score of four factors is 2.845 indicating the relative desirability of the university in general. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Conclusion:­ &lt;/strong&gt;Given the youth of Gorgan Azad University and­ low proportion of faculty members with full professor and associate professor degree, this level of desirability is acceptable. &lt;/p&gt;</description>

						<title>The Perspective of Graduates ‌ on the Performance of Educational Services of Golestan University of Medical Sciences 2007</title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective : &lt;/strong&gt;Since performance of educational services can be objectively represented by graduates’ perspective we decided to assess performance of educational services of Golestan University of medical sciences from the viewpoint of graduates. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Materials and Methods : &lt;i /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;In­ this descriptive study­, 159 of students who graduated in the second semester of 2006-2007 academic year were asked to fill out a valid and reliable research-made questionnaire with 36 closed questions relating to­ functional factors. To analyze the data, we use descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS software. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Results: &lt;i /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Of 159 subjects, 35­ (22%) are males and 124 (78%) females. Their majors are medicine, environmental health, Nursing, midwifery, Laboratory sciences, and Public health. ­The results show ­various viewpoints in different majors. ­There is significant correlation between graduates’ satisfaction with the performance of educational system and their course of study (p&lt;0.001).­­The intense of this result is further due to medical and midwifery graduates’ dissatisfactory with the performance of high educational services and management. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;  &lt;strong&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/strong&gt; Based on the results, the functions in different educational sections of university are not in line with graduates’ expectations. &lt;/p&gt;</description>

						<title>Study of Body Image of Staff Engaged in Golestan University of Medical Sciences </title>

						<description>&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt; Background and Objective: &lt;/strong&gt;Body image has a remarkable affect on people's lives, their self-esteem, mental well being and health. The aim of this study was to survey the body image of faculty members and staff engaged in schools of Golestan University of Medical Sciences. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Materials and Methods:&lt;/strong&gt;­ In this descriptive-analytical study­(2008),­using census, the subjects are educational, clerical and ordinary staff of all faculties of Golestan University of medical Sciences.­­ The instrument was a­valid and reliable­(r=­0.71)&quot;body­ image&quot;­questionnaire. The data related to variables such as gender, type of work, appearance, height and weight&quot; were analyzed using analytical and descriptive statistics. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Results: &lt;/strong&gt;Of 225 participants, 63.6% of them have good, 33.6% moderate and 3.1% had a bad body image. There is significant relation between body image and variables such as gender (P=0.003), appearance (P=0.001) and height (P=0.027), but it is not significant for type of work, school and weight with body image. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Conclusion:­&lt;/strong&gt; With regard to the importance of body image on mental health and because of constant interaction among different staff, having a positive body image may be effective in providing high quality at work. Therefore, applying some strategies to promote a good body image is necessary. &lt;/p&gt;</description>
